Illustration of a worn commercial ice machine in a kitchen

Central Avenue cafés and bars, Grand Central and EDGE district kitchens, downtown waterfront venues and restaurants along 4th Street North and 34th Street depend on ice. Crystal Ice assesses and repairs their commercial equipment from its Clearwater base, serving Tampa Bay since 1992.

Signs your machine needs a technician

Check only safely accessible indicators, an accessible water valve, filter records and exterior ventilation against the manual. Observe bin fullness without reaching into mechanisms. Do not reset recurring breaker trips, bypass controls or open internal electrical/refrigerant panels. Record visible error codes and safely accessible brand/model details for assessment. Do not serve suspect ice.

Changing cubes, output or sound warrants assessment rather than an assumed diagnosis.

    • The bin stays low, even after closing.
    • Cubes become small, hollow, cloudy or stuck together.
    • Water pools under or around the machine.
    • Unusual continuous running or repeated cycling.
    • New grinding, rattling or squealing.
    • Ice smells or tastes musty; stop serving suspect ice and request assessment.

    Supported brands, quoted up front

We assess and repair Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, Scotsman and Ice-O-Matic commercial ice machines, including equipment we did not install.

For repairs, request a written repair quote before work. Repairs carry a 90-day warranty. The quote establishes proposed work and terms; no fixed component prices, parts-at-cost arrangement or automatic free-return promise applies. Rental repair parts/labor are included.

    Salt air and condenser care

Waterfront kitchens and patio bars near the bay may face salt- and humidity-related corrosion or condenser dirt buildup. Assess placement, manufacturer-required ventilation and cleaning needs with a technician; coastal exposure does not predict a specific failure or lifespan.

Rental with repair parts and labor included

Compare condition and actual quotes; repeated repairs do not prove rental is cheaper than the next fault.

Rental starts at $160/month and includes the machine, installation, standard scheduled PM every 6 months and repair parts/labor. Two months are paid up front, then it is month-to-month with no long-term contract. No setup or installation fee; free pickup on cancellation. If repair becomes unsuitable, discuss replacement arrangements and availability; a guaranteed replacement, loaner or uninterrupted ice is not promised.

    Keep it clean between repairs

PM costs $295/visit on a machine you own; standard scheduled PM is included with rental. A visit includes sanitizing water-contact surfaces, scale removal, a mechanical inspection, a filter check and service paperwork. Standard scheduled PM is every 6 months. Follow manufacturer instructions and clean sooner if conditions warrant; high-use, coastal and healthcare needs are assessed individually. Paperwork documents maintenance, not guaranteed inspection passage.
